Fragmentation is a common occurrence in daily computing. As you write, read, save and delete files in your computer your hard drive can become fragmented and these can slow down the performance of your computer. Fragmentation also occurs in removable drives like flash drives and memory cards.
There are various kind of computer users in the world (gamers, designers, programmers, computer technicians, typists, editors, publishers, etc.), who really use computers for different purpose.
Designers (such as CAD users, web designers, and others) have a great passion for pictures and this is the life they live day in and out making designs to suite different purpose. Because using or making different images is part of designing there is always a practice known as download and delete. They delete images not needed and most times just store them or move them from one location to another this has an effect on your hard disk.
Programmers who write codes offline use a lot of resources in the computer (RAM, HDD) and during the process of coding and debugging there is a lot of write, delete and rewriting of files occurring on the computer hard disk, this can cause hard drive fragmentation and low performance
Computer technicians are one kind of computer users that really mess up with computer often because of the process of installing and testing of different software, running virtual machines all to improve how they will satisfy their customers in a new way keeps the hard drive working and over loaded with a lot of junks and formatting.
Other computer users may not really have issues with hard drive errors except for some other physical causes that may lead to hard drive crashing, but if there is a juxtapose with the above users they share out of the risks of having hard disk fragmentation which can lead to drive errors.
If by any means you discover a low performance in your computer in reading/writing files to disk, you might consider defragmenting your drive using windows disk defragmenter or any other third party software. Watch video for real practical
